Coaching? For Theatre?

It's More Common Than You Think!

Whether you're a seasoned professional looking to dust off old audition material, a college student auditioning for your B.F.A program, or just someone interested in getting a handle on what all this theatre stuff is about, having an outside eye on your work is essential!

What Does Coaching Look Like?

Either in person or virtually, each session always starts with a conversation. As an educator, I understand that agency is vital to not only the development of the artist... but also the development of a love for the art.

So... what are some things we can cover in a coaching session?

1. The Basics (the who, what, when, where, and why of the piece)

2. The Stakes

3. The Tactics (how you get what you want)

4. The Presentation (slating, putting together an audition package, resume formatting, etc.)

Cost and Pricing

Accessibility to professional development is a privilege I have enjoyed and one that has led me to numerous professional opportunities. That is why all coaching is offered on a sliding scale.

Session Times:

30 Minute Session (recommended for material brush up or single piece)

60 Minute Session (recommended for multiple pieces, first time auditioners, audition package compilations)

Ashley P. on Monologue Coaching

“Ryan provides a collaborative and encouraging environment to motivate his actors towards a strong and truthful character presence. His ability to challenge you while simultaneously lifting you up to the height of your abilities allows you to not only grow as an artist, but to become more confident in your craft. Not to mention his extensive knowledge of materials. I cannot recommend working with Ryan enough!”

Nick E. on This Our Youth at Wayne State

“With some of my best friends co-directing me, I could tell they were nervous about approaching the intimate aspects of our show. Unfortunately, even if I looked forward to it/was comfortable about it, the residue nerves did create a bit of tension around it. Ryan came in and everybody couldn’t have been more comfortable. He took the nerves right out of the room and made sure everyone felt safe and heard.  He is good at his job and more than that, he genuinely cares about it.”

Marck K. on Audition Preparation

"Ryan is a fantastic coach to work material with. He creates an atmosphere of ease and lets you feel comfortable in revealing more and more of yourself in your work. He challenges in a way that inspires, clarifies, and enables you to discover more avenues and colors to add. He is also an undeniably fun presence in any room and helps keep the mood light while maintaining clear focus on everything you're doing. I love working with Ryan and would immediately recommend him to any actor seeking to get out of their heads and listen more to their instincts."
